Active Collective welcomes pitches that help readers understand the choices and small experiments involved in making something with other people. Send proposals through the Contact page; please do not send a finished full-length piece unless we have asked for one.

What we want to hear about

We are interested in clear, self-contained stories about starting shared projects, dividing work, exchanging skills, shaping a result or keeping knowledge available to a group. A strong contribution has a distinct point, explains the idea in ordinary language and offers readers something they can consider without needing professional advice or special access.

Pitch the useful bit

Tell us the proposed title or subject, the main idea, who might find it useful and what makes your approach different from a familiar list of tips. Mention any sources, examples or specialist knowledge the piece would depend on. If an idea has a limitation or a likely failure point, include that too; honest edges make a better story.

Sending a proposal

Use the Contact page and choose the editorial question option for a pitch. Keep the proposal concise and include a way for us to reply. We review ideas for fit, clarity and distinctness, but cannot promise publication or provide a response by a particular date.
